Freight Customer Services Specialist - FTC

Our Freight Customer Service Team is always busy with bookings and enquiries for our Dover, Calais, Dunkerque and Sheerness Ports. Therefore, we are on the lookout for a Freight Customer Services Specialist to join us in Dover, initially on a Fixed Term contract.

Working in a small, hardworking, but fun team of 6 colleagues, working as part of the wider Freight Sales department. You’ll be working any time from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday with Saturday’s and Bank Holiday’s, between 9am until 3pm, on a rotational shift pattern. Tasked with supporting customers with their freight bookings and enquiries via telephone and email, so we need you to be passionate about delivering a great service and quickly responding to all booking enquires. The role is fast paced so we’ll need you to enjoy working at speed as well as being accurate and focussed on detail, always responding to customer issues in a professional manner. The team regularly support one another so it’s essential you’re prepared to roll up your sleeves and help other team members in peak periods. This may include assisting the operations department when required.

You’ll be creating bookings for customers, which may include abnormal or hazardous cargo, and supplying them with their references. Alongside supporting our customers, you’ll be liaising with authorities and government agencies to ensure compliance and supporting and monitoring our e-booking services. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication, organisation, and customer service skills. Great telephone manner and is computer literate with a basic understanding of Microsoft Word & Excel. If you’ve worked in shipping or logistics, this would be an advantage however, of course we will give you all the training you’ll need to be able to hit the ground running and to make a great team member.
