DFDS Technology & Innovation

Javascript Developer

We are looking for an experienced jasvascript developer with an interest in crafting modular user interfaces with a focus on readability and maintainability.
You will be joining our Digital Freight fullstack team to build DFDS freight booking application.

Tech Moves us - Be part of the Movement and play you part building
the Freight booking app

In your immediate team, you will be joining 3 frontend developers and 2 backend developers to continue work on our Freight booking app built using React, Typescript and NextJS. It is already in operation and is used by customers on some routes, and it is intended that by the end of the year, the app will be used across all routes operated by DFDS.
Besides adding on more routes, the team is also working in implementing features aimed at reducing manual work when processing customer documentation in terminals.

You’ll be part of Technology & Innovation, one of DFDS’ five divisions, with over 300 people in three European hubs. This is proof of our belief in a digital future. DFDS employs more than 13,000 people on land and at sea all over Europe.

About you

We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity.
Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all.

With this in mind, we think that you have experience in building frontend applications built on top of modern frontend frameworks, preferably React, but experience in other frameworks such as Vue, Svelte or Angular will be considered, as well you should have experience in fetching data from a CMS and have some understanding of benefits of doing so effectively.

Knowledge of, and experience of NextJS or other frontend “meta” frameworks will be considered an advantage.

We create things that help our customers and our business. You’ll need to think that way and be happy working with colleagues who have the same focus.

This means you

  • have the willingness to work with stakeholders to both understand the bigger picture and figure out details.
  • focus on testing and refactoring to promote readability, maintenance, and performance
  • are comfortable with presenting work at sprint reviews
  • can support a professional yet relaxed team chemistry
  • are committed to high development standards.

We are an agile company. Experience with agile working is a definite plus. If you don’t have experience, we’ll expect you to tell us why agile appeals to you.

Are we a match? Then what are you waiting for? Apply Now.

If you think your personality, skills, experience and ambition match this role, we’d love to hear from you. Submit your resume in English as soon as possible as we’re keen to meet potential candidates on an ongoing basis.

Is there something you need to know, we haven’t covered here, please do not hesitate to reach out to Frontend Chapter Lead Jekabs Donis on jedon@dfds.com
