Operations Manager

DFDS is now looking for an Operations Manager, for a permanent contract in France (Dieppe – Seine maritime). As an Operations Manager, you will supervise all operating activities on site used by our ships (here, in Dieppe) and manage and lead operating agent teams working in the terminal. Daily tasks will be to ensure the continued delivery of high standards of customer service with the help of your  operations team (more than 20 permanent employees).

Reporting to the Route Director for the Dieppe/Newhaven Route, the expectations for the job are as follows :

  • Operations:

-Managing smooth running of ships’ port calls using appropriate human and technical resources,

-Managing ships’ schedules and Planning of ships’ voyage,

-Organising activities linked to ships’ loading and unloading commercial operations,

-Managing coordination with port services or service providers in the framework of ship operation and terrestrial infrastructures used by the Company,

-Managing the terminal security (as your ASIP function requires)

-Drafting, implementing and following-up of the Operation Department’s procedures and instructions as defined in the Operation Manual of terminals

-Managing and following-up unaccompanied traffic,

  • Team Management:

-Monitoring working hours of the Operations Department staff,

-Managing and following-up overtime of the operations Department staff,

-Organising and following-up leave of the Operations Department staff,

-Setting up work plannings of the Operations Department staff and recruitment,

-Team building and participation in the social dialogue.

 

You will be asked to liaise with various Authorities & Government Agencies, so the ability to represent the company in a professional courteous manner at all times is essential.

 

About you

- You have at least 3 years of higher education, in Management

- Professional experience: At least 5 years of similar experience or in operating positions

- You are fluent in French and in English
