Transport Planner

£26,000 - £28,000

Do you have a positive approach with a can-do attitude? Experience in transport planning or interested to learn about transport & driver compliance? If so, we’ve got just the role for you. Following a colleague relocating within the business, we are currently looking for a Transport Planner to join our team.

Based at our Peterborough site, you’ll be working any 5 from 7 days a week, as part of a close-knit team, prioritising workloads and dealing with a demanding transport plan for both national and international deliveries. Within the role you’ll be working towards building a good knowledge of our operational processes and compliance surrounding trucks and drivers. Become a team player, with the willingness to resolve complex vehicle movement and logistical issues where required, supporting others, whilst conducting root cause analysis and driving forward improvement plans.

You will be liaising with multiple customers, DFDS sites and delivery points, so we’ll need you to forge relationships quickly with our planning team, drivers, subcontractors, and stakeholders alike. This will enable you to be fully versed with the day-to-day requirements for all trucks and drivers, and ensure you are maximising revenue where possible. Naturally, excellent communication skills are a prerequisite, ensuring delivery issues are fully communicated to operational teams and resolved in a timely manner. This will help ensure you can raise vehicle utilisation, continually delivering towards KPI targets and provide recommendations for continuous improvement, gaining excellent geographical knowledge along the way.

As well as being outgoing and confident, you’ll need to be determined, have a positive can-do attitude, combined with the ability and enterprise to constantly review the transport plan. For this role we will need you to demonstrate exceptional knowledge of Microsoft packages combined with a proficient IT skillset. You should be able to work on your own initiative and be flexible with working hours as the role does include a small amount of overtime when the business requires. The right candidate for us will be looking for a work/life balance and striving to feel valued in their role. Culture is a strong focus of ours and we continue to find ways to ensure this is a good environment to work within. You’ll be joining a talented team who enjoy what they do so you’ll be well supported to perform to your best.

Previous experience of vehicle route planning would be advantageous along with knowledge of Driver hours, Tachographs & the Working Time Directive legislation.
