Sous Chef

SOUSCHEF – GALLEY

We are looking for the right candidate for the position as Sous Chef on our passenger vessels KING- and PRINCESS SEAWAYS, that sails between Amsterdam-Newcastle.

We have 2 restaurants onboard, where the menus range widely. Our buffet restaurant Explorers Kitchen, provides both breakfast and dinner for several hundred guests every day, and our Ala Carte restaurant North Sea Bistro serves everything from steak to delicious fish. We work only with the best ingredients, and you will have ample opportunity to gain experience across the concepts.

As a part of the galley team, you get a very central role together with your team and the Head Chef, to make sure that our guests get a special experience of enjoying dining at sea.

 

THE JOB

In the position as Sous Chef, you will be co-responsible for the daily operation and management of the galley team, which consists of around 20 employees.
It is your responsibility to comply with all applicable standards and administrative procedures for the area.

Together with your immediate manager, Head Chef, you will also be responsible for implementing new initiatives to strengthen quality, customer experience and sales results.

Your daily routine will take place in the operation, where your focus will be:

  • Mis en place
  • Daily briefings in the galley department
  • Administrative and operational ad hoc tasks
  • Quality check of food
  • In addition, it is your responsibility to motivate and coach the employees to ensure that they always deliver exceptional quality.


YOUR PROFILE

ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Microsoft Office user level
  • English language, high level written and spoken
  • Diploma as a chef

 

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The work takes place on board the ship. Here you must be set to a work rhythm where you work 14 days, after which you have 14 days off. The working day is typically between 10-13 hours a day.

The salary follows the agreement between DFDS A/S and Metal Maritime. It is net wage that is not taxed (DIS) when you are resident in the EU.
