Shunter Driver/Office Administrator

DFDS Logistics are based at 7 sites across the UK, have 338 trucks and 4,561 trailers that are used throughout the UK and Europe. Delivering to over 1,000 customers at over 4,000 unique sites, travelling nearly 30M KM per annum. Over 900 drivers are utilised, with close to 500 drivers being employed directly by DFDS.

This vacancy is within the DFDS Logistics operation based out of Kings Lynn working with the day shift team. We work on behalf of a major Frozen food retailer with close links to other DFDS sites and contracts based through the UK. Be part of a high performing team who deliver great service to our customers in the most cost-effective solution possible. The role itself will be varied, some loading of vehicles and pre-loading trailers, along with day to day office tasks. You will need to hold a class 1 licence for this position.



  • Support other team members in problem solving, carrying out root cause analysis and driving improvements.
  • Liaise with the coldstore to arrange the efficient loading of vehicles
  • Ensure invoices, reports and statistical information are completed on time in full.
  • Pre-brief and de-brief drivers to ensure they understand their requirements for the day and that we act on any issues they find whilst on the job.
  • Develop an understanding of DFDS IT systems such as Velocity and Mandata.
  • Good IT skills covering Microsoft packages and ability to understand external systems such as Tachomaster.
  • Ensure audit performance set against regulatory, legislative and business requirements are completed.
  • Communicate directly with our customers, listening to their needs and giving them great customer service.
  • Work closely with the Regional Transport Manager and be reactive to the needs of the business, flexing what the priorities are on any given day.
  • Support in the resourcing our of driver plan to ensure delivery on time and management of costs.
  • Building a relationship with the Planning Control Tower to make sure we continuously improve and get better every day.
