Infrastructure Engineer specialising in Automation and Backup

We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer specialized in automation and backup to be part of our team that will provide technology expertise and support for our infrastructure environment.

You will be part of the Data Center team in DFDS’ Support and Operations department, working on both projects and operational tasks.
The tasks are varied but are aimed at automating IT and business tasks, to continuously improve DFDS’ standards.
The role will ensure that infrastructure service requirements are met for a wide range of business systems and applications. On top of that, the architecture and operation of our Commvault backup system will also be a key responsibility.

Your Journey

As our new team member, you will learn the inner workings of DFDS infrastructure - but don’t get too settled, as the rulebooks are all being rewritten! DFDS is on a cloud journey and assumptions are being challenged, as we move away from traditional on-premise infrastructure to a Infrastructure as code hybrid cloud data center. Your first assignment will be to familiarise yourself with our backup systems, then lead the charge to automate and uplift them. Your ideas and expertise will drive us forward together.

You have technical experience and knowledge in:

  • Automating infrastructure tasks using a range of scripting tools, such as PowerShell and Terraform
  • Backup systems, preferably Commvault
  • Cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure IAAS services
  • DevOps concepts and experience working with developers
  • Microsoft Windows Servers and Active Directory
  • Hyper-V and VMware environments
  • ITIL Foundation

Personally, you are:

  • Change ready!
  • Willing and able to expand your knowledge as needed
  • Structured and data-driven. You’re not one to shoot from the hip!
  • Collaborative. You’re always ready to help out where needed and love sharing your knowledge
  • Patient and persistent
  • Fluent in oral and written English
  • Oh… did we mention that you need to be ready for change?

Your daily exploits

You will be responsible for operating – and eventually owning – DFDS’ infrastructure backup systems.  You will take part in projects including the deployment of new business systems and applications, and implementation of new technologies.

Due to the nature of the business processes and the need for them to be highly available, planned activities and upgrades will sometimes need to be completed outside business hours. You are able to travel 5-10 days a year (in a post-Corona Virus world).

An exciting job in a dynamic organization

We offer you an interesting position, placed in a successful and constantly evolving company. You will get to work with a professional and reliable team in an environment where we put effort into staying current with the data center industry.
For the right candidate, DFDS offers good career opportunities within the group based on your expertise and interests.

DFDS is a dynamic company in the growing ferry and logistics markets. We have a great passion and commitment for what we do, and for working within a demanding and exciting domain.

We will provide you with tasks and opportunities that will challenge and develop your professional competencies; tools, training and space for personal development; guidance on planning and performing your job; and heaps of flexibility to bring out your best.

The position is placed in our headquarters in Nordhavn, Copenhagen.
