Shipping Logistics Director

The Role…We are currently seeking a Shipping Logistics Director based at our offices in Immingham. This exciting and challenging role will report directly to the Managing Director of DFDS Seaways UK and be responsible for a team of 120 employees and an annual revenue plan of circa £20 Million.

The role will provide leadership, strategic and commercial direction for the unit and will be responsible for driving growth within the existing customer base as well as adding new customers and transport solutions to the portfolio. Ensuring the profitability and efficiency of the warehousing and transshipment activities within the Immingham terminal is also a key part of this role.

Who we want…You will have worked at a similar senior level within the Transport/Logistics sector, ideally with knowledge of Warehouse Management. You will be able to demonstrate a track-record of creating new and innovative solutions that have had a direct impact on the top and bottom line as well as customer satisfaction. You will have experience of setting and delivering a commercial strategy targeting new customers, as well as retaining existing business and adding value by expanding the services we offer. Experience of working collaboratively with other areas of the business to deliver results is essential.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Be a role model for DFDS to your team, the wider DFDS business and beyond.
  • Create and implement a business development strategy that secures new business with both existing and new customers.
  • Create strategies to retain current business and integrate DFDS further into our customers supply chains.
  • Collaborate with other offices within the DFDS organization to develop new opportunities and cargo flows supporting our business.
  • Innovate new solutions to grow the range of services available to our customers to build strong and long-term relationships.
  • Working with the DFDS Digital team develop technological solutions to enhance our service offering and differentiate us from the competition
  • As a member of the UK board you will be involved in decision making and strategy setting for the wider UK business in operational, safety, HR and financial matters.
  • Work with Industry Forums and governmental bodies to drive DFDS’ agenda
  • Prepare and produce budgets and commercial reports as required in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders
