DFDS is currently going through a transformation. The outcome of a recent strategy process have confirmed our initial initiatives within AI and predictive analytics and provided renewed ambitions for an accelerated digitalization of our business.

The Smart Data team was establish one year ago. Working agile with a strong focus on our customer’s needs, we have already delivered multiple solution that provides tangible benefits for the business and our customers.

The team currently consists of 6 highly dedicated specialists and we are now looking for an experienced and motivated colleague to join this successful team and help accelerate our strategy even further.

Your primary task will be to turn business problems into data solutions that provide real value for the company and its customers. You will do so working in an agile environment with an explorative and fail-fast mind-set.


We have full end-to-end ownership of initiatives (data acquisition & analysis, building predictive models, creating prototypes and assisting with integrating of solutions into existing products). In line with your experience, you have the possibility to greatly influence the way we work.

With a very diverse business spanning multiple business areas (Shipping, Logistics, Passenger Ferries, Terminals) supported by many different IT solutions, there is a huge potential for application of advanced analytics, Internet-of-Things, big data solutions, AI etc.

Smart Data is part of Group Transformation with 80+ experienced and dedicated colleagues. You will report to the head of the Smart Data department and be placed at our headquarters in Nordhavn (Copenhagen)


Profile

We are looking for a person eager to be involved in a start-up like initiative, heavily backed by top management, with the ability to utilize past experiences to influence how we work, and design excellent models that provides tangible benefits and thus support the digitalization of DFDS.

We are currently looking to hire 1 experienced colleague to the team with a proven track record of delivering real customer value and drive to make a difference.

We expect you to hold a M.Sc. or Ph.D. within a quantitative area or other relevant academic background.

We expect the candidates to:

  • Take full end-to-end ownership of Smart Data projects
  • Have experience in machine learning methods and statistical modelling (regression, forecasting, clustering, optimization, time series etc.).
  • Have experience in data exploration, visualization and data mining in order to identify new patterns, perform dimension reduction and anomaly detection etc.
  • Have strong experience in building statistical models using Python
  • Transform complex business problems into prototypes and  actual products (following the minimum viable product mindset)
  • Have experience in extracting and modelling data from a varied range of sources, including SQL, flat files, Azure/AWS etc.
  • Communicate complex solutions in a clear, understandable way to non-experts
  • Enjoy working in an Agile environment
