Are you a Customer driven person with a great interest in shipping? Then this position as shipping assistant might be for you.

We are currently looking to recruit a shipping assistant to join our team based in Oslo. You will be working in a fast-paced shipping/logistics environment focusing on maintaining our excellent customer service. The person we are looking for will be involved in the preliminary contact with the customers, booking and planning, customs clearance and final customer invoicing.

DFDS Liner agency Oslo-Copenhagen operates the Ro/Ro activities between Oslo and Copenhagen and serve a large number of freight customers from all over Europe. You will be part of a dynamic and bottom line driven team of four people, who are responsible for the import/export between Norway and Denmark.  Our office is located at the DFDS Terminal Vippetangen, Akershusstranda in Oslo. The position reports to the Freight Manager Oslo/Copenhagen.

You will have the following key responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Booking
  • Customer service
  • Sales
  • Capacity management and optimization
  • Cooperation with stevedoring suppliers
  • National customs
  • Managing customs clearance  (Norwegian and Danish)
  • Accounting/invoicing
  • Weekend work (approximately once a month)

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate is a person with experience from the shipping industry who has a commercial mindset and understanding, possesses enthusiasm, a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Other experience can make up for the lack of shipping experience.

You are outgoing, service minded, positive and you have great communication and cooperation skills. Furthermore, you are able to work in a fast-paced environment maintaining a positive attitude towards our clients, external and internal.

As our group language is English, we expect you have good proficiency in English. It will be an advantage if you speak Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
