Bartender

Where DFDS Seaways is concerned, our aim is first and foremost to create such a good maritime experience for our guests that they are even happier when they leave the ship than they were when they came on board.

This is why we expect you to be a person with a positive attitude who knows that a smile is the easiest way to make customers and colleagues happy. You have a structured approach and drive and can navigate with your brain and your heart. You can take responsibility and act independently, but you can also listen to others. And you also have the physical and mental energy to do your bit - also when the seas run high.

In return, we can offer you an exciting, engaging workplace with a difference, characterised by development and growth. You will be faced with challenges at personal and professional level and work with competent, lively colleagues who appreciate the fact that going to work should be fun. Working hours are long for long periods at a time, but on the other hand you will have more continuous leisure time with your family - and the prospect of tax-free wages, and free board and lodging.

Your primary tasks:

  • Serving beverages from the bar
  • Serving tables in the nightclub and bar
  • Filling up the bar
  • Clearing tables in the sales areas
  • Settling with the bank (responsibility for stocks)
  • Deputising and duty in the restaurant to a greater or lesser extent
  • Cleaning in your own area

Your professional profile:

  • Job-related experience from the hotel and restaurant trade, but great weight will be given to your personality and ability and your interest in providing service
  • You can communicate in English in writing and orally

Your personal profile:

We place great emphasis on your personality and your desire and commitment to work with and provide guests with service.

  • You enjoy providing service and enjoy creating the best possible atmosphere around your guests.
  • You can 'read' your guests and can therefore offer them precisely the experience they expect and preferably a little more
  • You know that good, extra sales are created through excellent service and an understanding of your guests' needs.

Hours of work:

Hours of work are as a general rule two weeks work followed by two weeks off. You must expect long working hours, 10 - 12 hours a day and sometimes up to 14 hours.

Board and lodging:

You have full board and lodging on DFDS Seaways's ships and you will either have have your own cabin or share with a colleague. Bedclothes, linen and towels are placed at your disposal on the ship. But you are responsible for cleaning your cabin.
